Tyler County Released Inmate Meanings
“Released” describes departure from one custodian. It does not always mean freedom. At Tyler County Jail, a person may bond out, finish a misdemeanor term, leave under court action, or transfer to another authority. At Gib Lewis Unit, a person may transfer within TDCJ, enter parole or mandatory supervision, or fully discharge a sentence. The first task is to identify which system held the person and what its event label means.
A released person usually drops from a current-custody display. The later proof may be a Sheriff booking/release entry, a transfer notation, a bond record, a judgment, a TDCJ release certificate, parole action, or discharge history. Court files can explain why custody ended but may omit the exact door-out time. The custody record can supply that timestamp but may not carry the full legal basis.
| Release type | Meaning | Next source |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or court order | County custody may end in the community | Sheriff event and court order |
| Time served | Local sentence is satisfied | Judgment, jail credit, release log |
| Transfer | Custody moves to another authority | Destination agency locator |
| Parole | State sentence continues under supervision | BPP action and TDCJ Parole Division |
| Discharge | Sentence obligation ends | Official incarceration/discharge history |
Tyler County Release Record Fields
Texas has no single document called a universal release record. Tyler County's proof may be a jail-management event, paper release log, bond entry, or transfer notation. State prison proof may take the form of a release certificate, time-calculation record, parole action, IVSS event, or discharge history. Ask for fields that tie the event to the right person and custody stay.
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Name and identifiers | Identity, date of birth, booking number, TDCJ number, or SID |
| Admission details | Booking or admission date, time, facility, and agency |
| Case details | Charge, cause number, sentence, bond, and jail credit |
| Release details | Date, time, type, disposition, destination, or authority |
| Hold notation | A detainer or other custodian's interest, when public |
| Photo link | The booking image associated with that intake, if available |
Field names vary. Some information may be confidential or withheld. A dismissal does not by itself prove the exact physical release time. A transfer notation does not prove community release. Likewise, a projected or scheduled state date is prospective and can change. Completed event records deserve more weight than estimates.
Request Tyler County Release Records
The Sheriff form is the county route for a named booking and release entry. It asks for the request date, requester contact information, case number, incident dates, involved-person details, and a clear description. Tyler County warns that a vague request must be narrowed enough to identify existing material. Active or pending investigative information may not be available.
- Give the full name, date of birth, approximate booking date, and known booking or cause number.
- Ask for the existing jail-management booking/release record for that booking.
- List the public fields needed, such as booking time, charges, bond, release timestamp, disposition, destination, and photograph.
- Submit the form through Tyler County's Sheriff-specific open-records route.
- Review any clarification or cost notice, then compare the response with the court file.
The request form allows costs authorized by Texas public-information rules but gives no flat fee. It says the office will try to make records available as soon as possible and no later than ten business days, or make contact if material is unavailable. That is the form's processing language, not a promise of full disclosure.

Texas Law on Tyler County Records
Texas Government Code Chapter 552 governs public-information requests and agency exceptions. The requested record must already exist; the law does not require staff to conduct open-ended research or answer every question. Charges follow state rules, and confidential, sealed, expunged, juvenile, active-investigation, security, or protected personal material may be withheld or redacted.
Tyler County publishes no retention period for online released-jail data and no public roster archive. TDCJ's public inmate search is current-custody only. One narrow Parole Division policy concerning certain district field files after discharge must not be treated as the retention rule for TDCJ's master incarceration history. Historical requests should include strong identifiers and a focused date range.
Release does not cause automatic expunction. Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 55A controls expunction, and eligibility depends on the facts and procedure. Nondisclosure is also different from physical release. When a valid order applies, an ordinary public search may be incomplete, so the court order and official custodian control.
Find Tyler County Released Inmates
Search chronologically. Begin with the last known custodian, read the event without changing its meaning, and then move into the destination system. A blank current roster is only a prompt to switch sources.
- For Tyler County Jail, search IVSS-Counties for one person and read whether the event says release, bond, transfer, escape, or death.
- Call Corrections with the full name, date of birth, and approximate booking date if status is unclear.
- Request the Sheriff release entry and use the County Clerk for misdemeanors or District Clerk for felonies.
- For a state prison case, search TDCJ, check state IVSS, contact records channels, and request historical release or discharge data.
- For a federal sentence, use BOP. For immigration custody, use ICE's current locator and DHS-VINE as applicable.
County, state, federal, and immigration tools do not share one universal record. Match names, dates of birth, agency numbers, booking dates, and cause numbers before joining results. A person can pass through several systems in sequence.
Tyler County IVSS Release Search
The Tyler County Sheriff Jail page still calls its link “VINE Link/Inmate Lookup,” but Texas replaced county VINE with IVSS-Counties effective September 1, 2025. Existing registrations migrated. The current service supports a one-person custody or case search and notifications by available text, telephone, or email options. Texas provides round-the-clock English and Spanish support at 866-268-8959.
Open a selected result and compare the county, facility, and identity. Read the exact event. A transfer to TDCJ is not the same as release home. IVSS is not a countywide 24-hour or 72-hour gallery and does not replace a certified historical record.
The current IVSS-Counties portal shows the present county search interface.

The portal supports selected-person status checks; a dated Sheriff release-log request is the better interval or archive method.
Tyler County TDCJ Offender Search
The TDCJ Online Inmate Search is a current-incarceration tool, not a released-person archive. TDCJ states that it includes only people currently incarcerated in a TDCJ facility, updates on working days, and contains data at least 24 hours old. A missing result cannot distinguish release, discharge, delayed intake, misspelling, or an identifier mismatch.
| Search field | How to use it |
|---|---|
| TDCJ number | Strong state identifier and preferred when known |
| SID number | Another strong Texas identifier |
| Last and first name | Exact last name plus at least the first initial |
| Gender and race | Optional fields used to narrow likely matches |
A current detail may show location, offense information, projected release date, parole review information, and later a scheduled release date and location. These are prospective. After a favorable parole vote, residence approval, programming, record audit, certificate processing, transport, and detainers can still affect release.
For historical proof, submit a targeted TDCJ PIA request for incarceration, release, and discharge history. Provide the TDCJ or SID number, or full name and exact date of birth, along with a date range and the desired public fields.
Tyler County Has No Release Feed
No official Tyler County 24-hour or 72-hour released-inmate feed was found in the Sheriff pages reviewed on August 2, 2026. The county published no roster archive, release filter, card gallery, verified mobile app, update cadence, or post-release display period. IVSS checks a named person and cannot be represented as a complete daily list.
For one person, use IVSS, Corrections, the release record, and court disposition. For a time window, narrowly request an existing jail release log or report covering exact start and end timestamps. Ask for the public booking number, name, release timestamp, and disposition, while allowing the custodian to determine whether the report exists and which fields may be released.
Do not borrow data from Terry County, Smith County, or the City of Tyler. Similar names do not make their rosters Tyler County records. The dedicated Released Last 24 Hours path leads with these local fallbacks rather than inventing a feed.
Tyler County Court Release Proof
The court file is the durable source for a bond order, dismissal, plea, judgment, sentence, jail-time credit, probation order, revocation, or termination. It may explain why release was lawful without showing the jail's physical exit time. Pair it with the Sheriff timestamp when both questions matter.
Misdemeanor copies come from the County Clerk. Its instructions offer in-person, web payment and email, or mail routes. The page estimates 24 to 48 hours for emailed documents and three to five business days for mailed processing; certified copies cannot be emailed. Felony and district cases belong to the District Clerk at 100 W. Bluff, Room 203, Woodville, with phone 409-283-2162 and weekday office hours listed as 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The County Clerk instructions document the misdemeanor copy path.

Those instructions help retrieve the legal disposition, while the jail record remains the better source for the actual custody timestamp.
Tyler County Cite And Release
Tyler County Court publishes settings labeled “CITE AND RELEASE.” These are court calendars for cases begun by citation rather than custodial arrest. They are not a list of people who just left Tyler County Jail, and a cited case may have no jail booking photograph or release record at all.
The County Court dockets show this locally distinctive calendar label.

The docket can help locate a court setting, but it should never be counted as a Sheriff recent-release feed.
Tyler County Supervision After Release
Parole, mandatory supervision, and probation are different. The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles makes parole-related decisions. TDCJ Parole Division supervises people released from prison who continue serving a sentence in the community. Tyler County Adult Probation administers court-ordered local community supervision, which does not by itself prove a prior prison release.
A key local routing fact prevents misdirected calls. TDCJ maps Tyler County residents to Beaumont District Parole Office, Region I, not the office named for the City of Tyler. Local probation stays with Tyler County Adult Probation at 203 N. Charlton in Woodville. No official public county probationer or absconder search was found.
- Parole
- Conditional state-prison release under TDCJ supervision after a Board decision.
- Probation
- Court-ordered community supervision administered locally.
- Mandatory supervision
- A distinct state supervised-release route subject to eligibility and review.
- Blue warrant
- A parole warrant that can return a person to custody for an alleged violation.
Gib Lewis Release Planning Programs
Gib Lewis Unit's official directory lists CHANGES/Pre-Release and Reentry Planning. These programs add local context to state release preparation inside Tyler County. They do not prove that a named person enrolled, completed a course, obtained parole, or received any service after release.
A favorable Board vote also does not equal immediate departure. TDCJ must process the release certificate, approved residence, time calculation, audit, and other unresolved items. Detainers and required programming can delay or redirect the event. Confirm the actual release through the completed state record.
The official Gib Lewis Unit directory identifies the prison and programs.

The source shows what the unit offers, not what any individual did or when that person left.
Tyler County Jail Population Context
Tyler County contains a small Sheriff jail and a much larger state prison. The Sheriff lists capacity for 43 people plus temporary-housing cells. Gib Lewis Unit lists capacity 2,380. The contrast makes “which custody system?” the essential first question.
A Texas Commission on Jail Standards report listed Tyler County capacity 43 and average daily population 36 for the November 2020 through October 2021 period. Its definition may include local inmates housed elsewhere and excludes contract inmates. Treat those figures as dated system measures, not a current physical count or a prediction of release volume.
Tyler County Federal Release Checks
BOP's locator covers federal inmates from 1982 forward. A past date paired with “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody” confirms departure from BOP custody, subject to update and recalculation cautions. It does not prove freedom from state, local, immigration, or supervision obligations. Older federal records generally require the National Archives, while deeper files may require a BOP FOIA request.
ICE's Online Detainee Locator is current, not a historical release archive. No result may reflect release, transfer, protected data, spelling mismatch, identity issues, or age limits. DHS-VINE supplies a separate custody-change notification route for eligible users. USMS has no comparable public historical release locator, so use the federal docket, holding jail, local USMS contact, and BOP when a person was committed.
The BOP Inmate Locator demonstrates the federal status route.

A federal result answers only the BOP custody question and must be checked against any next custodian.
Tyler County Release Search Locations
Released and current records live in different places. Choose the row that matches the last known custody and the question being asked.
| Situation | Start here | Historical proof |
|---|---|---|
| Current Tyler County Jail custody | IVSS-Counties and Corrections | Sheriff booking/release entry |
| Former county detainee | IVSS event and court file | Release log plus disposition |
| Current TDCJ prisoner | TDCJ Online Inmate Search | TDCJ state records |
| Former state prisoner | State IVSS, parole route, records inquiry | TDCJ release/discharge history |
| Federal person | BOP locator | BOP record and federal docket |
| ICE detainee | ICE locator or DHS-VINE | Immigration case and agency records |
One blank system should never close the search. Verify spelling and identifiers, then follow documented custody movement. Exact dates, event labels, and destinations matter more than assumptions.
Tyler County Release Facilities
Two verified facilities form the local map. Tyler County Jail is the Sheriff-operated short-term jail at 702 N. Magnolia in Woodville. Its exits may be bond, court release, misdemeanor completion, or transfer. The Sheriff release record and local court file are the proper proof.
Gib Lewis Unit is a male TDCJ state prison at 777 FM 3497 near Woodville. Its exits may be TDCJ transfer, parole, mandatory supervision, or discharge. TDCJ search, state IVSS, parole channels, and state release/discharge records apply. No verified federal prison, dedicated ICE detention center, or separately operated municipal jail with a public release-record channel was found in Tyler County.
